Veera & Jari in Oz! Part II, Great Ocean Road
major tourist routes along the Southern Ocean. It was really worth taking extra time for the
journey, so we didn't have to rush it and it enabled us to discover all the beautiful secrets it has to offer...
The first day morning we drove all the way to the far end of GOR, to Port Campbell.
Had a beautiful picnic lunch on the beach and saw a couple of stingrays. Marvellous animals,
but a bit dangerous too. They can hide themselves in the sand so we almost stumped on them!
The beauty of the limestone rockstacks is overwhelming... the green water and the sound
of it when it hits the rocks...
Hmm... The guys are pointing out that this gorgeous Sherbrook River beach is not quite safe for swimming...
So guess what we had to do!?
What a great place for a little romantic walk or a nap in the arms of your loved one...
We were there almost alone the whole day.
The obligatory poses on the beach and some thirsty tourists crawling from behind the dunes...
The most famous ones of the 12 Apostles.
And some odd tourists... 'Great picture point'!
A little morning yoga before we left Lorne and hit the road again.
Juha reading the map in the rainforest. 'Heyyy, now I got it!'
We pumped into these sleepy fellows, too. Did you know their name koala is aboriginal language and means 'no drink'?
The serene Hopetoun Falls, in the Otway National Park. Yes, the water coming from the
mountains was just freezing! Juha was cheating with his winter wetsuit!
Behind the falls, the 'golden cat' greeting :)
Inside the rain forest... The guys look a bit scared or what?
The girls in a nest in a tree trunk. The wonderful play of light and shade.
ABOVE the rainforest. The Otway Fly Treetop Walk. The highest spot is ~25 m above the ground.
Don't look down! Juha imitating an orangutang...
We got a new friend, Oliver! He was also very excited about the heights!
The last night on Great Ocean Road, in Torquay. The guys stayed up all night playing
pool and emptying 'a few' bottles of beer...
...so they weren't very perky or fresh the next morning as can be concluded from the picture
taken on the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento.
What a nice apartment it was!
'Keep clear when berthing', says the sign :) Tourists are tourists.
Wonderful Sorrento beach.
The 'Baywatch' chicks :)
Getting ready to swim with the dolphins and seals!
On board! Dolphins here we come!
Getting ready for diving. We had some fairies on board too!
Gee, the seals were great but smelled really bad!
Phew, it's time to have a break and go and play some beach volley for a while now.
Promise to put the Tasmania photos online later today!
